Orlando, Fla. – Smart City was awarded a 10-year contract extension by unanimous vote from the Orange County Board to continue to be the exclusive provider of technology services to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
“This is an incredible success for Smart City. Our company was rated very highly by the county board, even compared to our competitors who were also vying for the contract. We were awarded 485 points out of 500, and the next highest number of points awarded was 280,” said Paul Ashley, President of Smart City’s convention division. “We feel very privileged to be able to continue working with one of the best convention centers in the U.S.”
As part of its contract, Smart City will provide phone service, high-speed Internet, web casting, web hosting, video conferencing, private network options and custom security solutions to the 7.6 million-square-foot facility.
The Orange County Convention Center is one of the largest hosts of high-profile conventions in the nation. According to convention center officials, the Orlando Convention Center hosted 26 of the largest trade shows in 2005.
This is the sixth contract extension that has been awarded to Smart City in the past year. The company was awarded two extensions from the George R. Brown Convention Center for technology and utility services, as well extensions from the Las Vegas Convention Center, Reliant Park in Houston and Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina.
