Smart City increases technology capabilities with the installation of new wireless network
LAS VEGAS – Smart City has installed a wireless network inside the Fort Worth Convention Center, giving full wireless access throughout the entire facility.
“This wireless network will provide quick, convenient and reliable Internet access to exhibitors and visitors with wireless laptops or personal digital assistants anytime, anywhere throughout our 714,000 square-foot facility,” said James D. Horner, assistant facilities and public events director. “In typical Smart City fashion, they’re delivering the tools we need to provide a superior wireless experience to our customers.”
As the exclusive provider of telecommunications technology to the Fort Worth Convention Center, Smart City offers phone service, high-speed Internet, webcasting, video conferencing, private network options and custom security solutions.
“It’s critical for the convention industry to provide its customers with the best technology available,” said Smart City CEO Martin A. Rubin. “We’re pleased to have been chosen by the Fort Worth Convention Center to install its wireless network and meet its unique needs.”
Smart City is also installing a new wireless network in the Charlotte Convention Center as part of recent extension of Smart City’s contract. The network is scheduled to be fully operational by April 2006.

The city purchased the facility from Tarrant County in 1997, and is now turning the facility into a 21st Century Convention and event showcase.
