Smart City was recently awarded a 10-year contract to continue to be the exclusive provider of telecommunications services to the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRBCC) in Houston.
Effective Nov. 8, 2005 through Nov. 8, 2015, Smart City will continue to provide wireless services, webcasting, video conferencing, private network options and custom security solutions to the GRBCC. Smart City also provides plumbing and electrical services to the convention center, and was awarded an extension for this contract in August 2005.
“Smart City has had a terrific partnership with the City of Houston for more than 20 years, and during that time we have evolved into a world-class facility that provides its customers a rock solid solution for their telecommunication needs,” said Jim Snook, general manager for Smart City in Houston. “This was validated when we provided telecommunications support for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Due to Smart City having facilities across the country, we were able to fly in additional personnel and equipment at the last minute to support this natural disaster. We are excited to continue our long-term strategic relationship with the GRBCC and the City of Houston, and look forward to working side by side with them for the next decade.”
Following the Houston Astrodome, the GRBCC is the second facility in Houston to have contracted with Smart City to provide telecommunication services, Snook added. When customers hold conventions in facilities serviced by Smart City, they will have access to the most reliable, state-of-the-art technology that is available in the convention industry.
